UnitedAgainstH8.org is a collective of creative types and computer geeks who are committed to restoring gay marriage rights in California.

We are gay and straight, of a variety of political persuasions, and of various faiths.

We believe marriage is a basic civil and human right, and that gay people who are in committed, loving relationships and want to be married should be treated the same as opposite-sex couples. Marriage and domestic partnership are inherently unequal.

Restoring gay marriage rights in California would strengthen and support families, a very good thing.

We draw the distinction between civil marriage and religious marriage. We believe it should be up to religious institutions to determine whether or not they recognize gay marriage. They certainly should not be forced to do so by the government.

Some of us are parents, and we believe it is our responsibility to teach our kids about diversity and to respect all families, and about the fundamental importance of basic equality under the law.
